• Indonesia DB: Indosat’s e-Commerce Site Cipika Shuts Down; Muhammadiyah's Mallmu.com and Thai Site Priceza launched

    E-commerce site Cipika, which is owned and operated by telco firm Indosat Ooredo, will cease operations by the 1st of June, the platform says on its website.

    Meanwhile, e-commerce site from Muhammadiyah Mallmu.com and, Thailand's Priceza were officially introduced in Jakarta.

    Cipika Cipika said that it has already stopped taking orders by May 22, and that it will use the remaining time in May to ensure that all purchases are being delivered and all merchants are receiving their payments, for all the transactions on Cipika Store platform.

    “We would like to extend our gratitude to our merchant partners for their collaboration, as well as to our wonderful customers,” it said in an official statement.

    Indosat said aspects of its e-commerce business had performed adequately, but were not scalable. It now plans to focus on core businesses, according to reports. Cipika was started in 2014 as a platform that sold various kinds of products from gadgets, fashion, accessories, to home utensils.

    Note: No reportst yet as to what will its fate after shutting down. But, recently Indosar Ooreedoo is working with IPI (Pesantren association) for the development of the digital ecosystem. (read)

    Meanwhile new e-commerce site was launched by Muhammadiyah's youth wing (Pemuda Muhammadiyah) recently called mallmu.com.

    The site was designed to accomodate potential menchants from 30-50- millions of Muhammadiyah's members around Indonesia.


    Priceza

    Priceza Price comparison site from Thailand, Priceza, has officially been introduced to the Indonesian market in Jakarta. it facilitates price comparison between more than 200 local and global online merchants on the platform. Priceza started operating in Indonesia in 2013. Up until 2016, sales had jumped 224 per cent.

    It now claims 4.5 million visitors per month and about 39 million product searches. “Traffic continues to increase. Through Priceza, consumers can find products that they are searching for from several online merchants with the cheapest price,” said Reni Minarti, Priceza Indonesia country manager. Priceza now operates in six countries, including Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Philippines. (more)
